This weekend my wife strongly hinted that I accompany her to go see La La Land. I know she was going to see it for 2 reasons. 1st it won like every award possible at the Golden Globes and 2nd……well Ryan Gosling.

Being the loving, supporting and awesome husband I am I immediately agreed. Well that and it was her birthday so really didn’t have a choice 🙂

I was surprised at how much I actually enjoyed the film. I know I am still humming the song in my head (beware if you haven’t seen it yet this is a side effect).

Without writing a full on review of the film, or ruining it for anyone who has not seen it, the story plot follow’s two main characters chasing their individual dreams. Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are true professionals and the believe-ability (even the cheesy parts) showed throughout the movie. Emma Stone’s character was an aspiring actress who went on hundreds if not thousands of auditions. She finally learned that there is some prep work she needs to do first and then someone can help her get to her dream. It did not work the other way around.

What Does This Have To Do With Real Estate

Just like Stone’s character many people I see expect someone to come save them and do all the work for them. They do not want to put in the work necessary prior to the show.

They want to look at a property before doing a loan.

They want to discuss price without looking at conditions.

They want to discuss commissions without looking at marketing.

Again I am not going to spoil the movie for you but that was exactly what Stone’s character tried to do and kept failing. Only when she trusted the process did she start to see success like she had imagined. It does help if you know the process though. To find that out you have 2 options

1.) Go online and research the thousands of websites that tell you there magical steps to closings. Then figure out which one you want. Then implement the process exactly as laid out hoping there is nothing you missed…… This is kind of like giving yourself a root canal by searching the process online.
