Anger is bad fuel?

“There is no more stupefying thing than anger, nothing more bent on its own strength. If successful, none more arrogant, if foiled, none more insane —— since it’s not driven back by weariness even in defeat, when fortune removes its adversary it turns its teeth in itself.” —- Seneca

In my studies I have learned that rage can be a fuel as long as we give it a positive purpose.

I get angry sometimes and it helps my workout or focus on a task become that much clearer.

The problem is the fuel you are running when operating that way is only good for a short burst. Think of the Fast and Furious movies with the nitrous boost. At the right moment it gives the boost needed, but used unwisely you could blow up the car.

Conversely not letting that anger out could cause a build up that eventually spills over into other parts of your life unexpectedly. Do you really think road rage is because you got cut off? Perhaps anger boiling over and all of a sudden we see an outlet to take it out on.

Learning to focus anger and rage into a singular positive task…… giving my darker side a purpose…… that is key to balance. First you have to acknowledge that anger and rage exist and know how to spot it. That takes an introspection most are not willing to participate in.

Whether out of fear of discovering it exist in them, or the disregard of how and why it’s there, knowing ones self is crucial to a breakthrough your looking for.
